In February of this year, Sarah Coyne (@eggagogo) and I paired our artwork in a show and silent auction at Aurum Cafe in Jamaica Plain, raising more than $1500 for WWF (World Wildlife Fund, @WWF)...and falling deeply in love with apple cinnamon hand pies. Uncertain what to expect, we were thrilled to the point of dancing (or exuberant smiling side-dips) to donate our art in exchange for verified donations to this nonprofit organization. The funds raised will support the delicate and valuable wild spaces animals dwell in, while perpetuating the ongoing conservation efforts of the WWF. We couldn't be happier.
Both leading up to that first show and since, it has been clear just how well our work and styles pair. As friends and art makers, we are excited to announce a second local show, at Ula Cafe in September of this year. The exhibition overlaps with JP Open Studios (September 23 and 24), where we will be available in person to chat about our process, share lattes, and sell merchandise.
Sitting down to plan this morning, our plates were full of shared halved pastries, both sweet and savory (thanks @ulacafe). Similarly, our collaboration is infused with dynamic and complementary flavors. While Sarah and I share a genuine love for animals, things easy on the eyes, and issues both local and global, our distinct personalities are reflected in our work.
To see the next mashup of animal inspired art on paper and wood, please stay tuned, and plan to stop by our upcoming Find and Forgive show in Jamaica Plain!
